It’s great when a new person finds their way to your site, blog or social media site but it’s even better if they return and fantastic when they recommend you to their friends and family. This is the key to expanding your business. Time and again business coaches and professionals offering business advice suggest providing a “call to action” as a means to accomplish this. These actions are intended to engage the reader and give them a reason or a means to keep in contact with you and your business. Once they are engaged and build confidence in you the recommendations follow.

Calls to action can come in many forms.  They can spread the word on events you’d like followers to attend or introduce followers to new ways to stay up-to-date on your happenings.

Got an art opening? Ask your followers to come meet or catch up with you at the opening.  It is always a good idea to keep location information on your contact list so that those in the area are informed of your local openings and events.

Just expand your online presence? There are countless avenues to share and meet others on the web today. Artists should have a personal site, blog, Facebook page, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ accounts along with a newsletter. Everyone uses the web differently and you want to be sure you can connect in the way they are most comfortable.

A final tip on calls to action is thank followers for the actions they take! Everyone’s time is precious. If someone takes the time to attend or share art opening information, sign up for a mailing list or start following you on a social media site thank them for their efforts! Each click takes time and each relationship takes nurturing.
